Your Answers:
A. Yerba mate tea - 18%
B. Spirulina - 34%
C. Vitamin C - 7%
D. Green tea - 38%

While all the items on this week's multiple choice list could be used for energy support, and have been recommended by Dr. Oz for energy support during this past season three of The Dr. Oz Show, there was one item in particular that I was looking for that was discussed on one of last week's repeat episodes.

The Answer: Spirulina
Dr. Oz calls spirulina the miracle from the sea. Spirulina is a blue-green algae that is pure protein. On the 4/13/12 episode that was re-run this past week, Dr. Oz says spirulina will give you the energy you need.

Mix 1 tablespoon of powdered spirulina together with 12 ounces of lime juice. Citrus boosts both energy and mood. Pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze. The cold temperature will increase metabolic energy. Place 2 frozen cubes into 8 ounces of water. Dr. Oz says this will be your new energy drink.

Yerba Mate
Dr. Oz has previously talked about getting 30g of protein within 30 minutes of waking up. On the 2/13/12 episode, Jump-Start Hour, Dr. Oz said to take that rule and build upon it with these this new rule.

Yerba Mate, a traditional South American tea supports weight loss through two mechanisms. The first mechanism is by speeding up the digestion process and the second is to reduce the absorption of fat and Yerba Mate is full of antioxidants and vitamins.

Vitamin C
Dr. Oz has talked about Vitamin C throughout this past season. He recommends Vitamin C for a variety of uses from skin care, as an antioxidant, for immune support and for energy.

On the 10/12/11 episode, Dr. Oz recommended combining foods that contain Vitamin C with foods that contain iron to the most from the iron you're eating.

To get the most from your iron, combine iron-containing foods with Vitamin C which works to aid absorption of the iron. Bok choy and iron fortified orange juice are two easy ways for the body to absorb iron by combining iron with Vitamin C.

Green Tea
Dr. Oz has long recommended green tea as a go-to health beverage because of it's polyphenal content which are great for the heart, caffeine to boost metabolism, as well as antioxidants. Here are a few more reasons to drink green tea.

In addition to energy production on the 6/4/12 episode of The Dr. Oz Show, Dr. Oz recommended drinking green tea to combat bad breath. He said green tea contains antioxidants that help kill bacteria in the mouth.

Green tea can also support skin health, according to Dr. Oz's Get Healthy Plan from the 4/4/12 episode. To help the skin stay young from the inside out, Ms. Greaves recommends drinking green tea with lemon. Green tea is an anti-inflammatory superstar that helps to keep the skin firm and looking young. Adding lemon will increase the antioxidant value of the beverage by 13 times. Catechins, a special group of flavonoids found in tea, will last longer in the digestive tract with the added lemon. Drink green tea with lemon daily, says Ms. Greaves.
